What is Black Box?
A black box is an electronic recording device made of steel or titanium. It is also called a flight recorder. Conversations between pilots, conversations with air traffic controllers, how much fuel the plane has, and how fast it's flying...all these activities are recorded by the box every second. Even the record of turning on or off any switch of the aircraft is also kept in it. In this device, there was all the information from the speed of the aircraft and the conversation of the pilots, from the altitude to the speed location.
These are of two types – first – flight data recorder and second – cockpit voice recorder. By combining these two devices, the size of the box becomes a smaller box.
To test its strength, it is thrown at a speed of 700 km per hour on a concrete wall. Its strength is tested by placing heavy weights on both sides for five minutes. It is kept at a temperature of 1100 degree Celsius for one hour and left at a depth of 6000 meters. Although initially, this box used to be black, there was no problem in finding it after the accident, so now it is being made in bright orange color. It can also be discovered inside 14 thousand feet deep water. The self-life of the battery in it is up to 6 years.
In how many days black box data can be recovered?
By the way, usually, this data from the black box is recovered in 10-15 days. First of all, understand the conversation between the pilot and the air traffic controller. This shows where the mistake happened. Did the pilots make a mistake? If not, then what should the pilot do to control the uncontrollable aircraft?
What is the role of FDR?
The Flight Data Recorder (FDR) device shows the position of the aircraft at the time of the accident. Its purpose is to record data from the sensors of the aircraft. From FDR to Chopper's speed, altitude and other technical things and information are also available.
Also, know CVR
The cockpit voice recorder (CVR) device also plays an important role in the event of a helicopter crash. Used to record the audio environment in the flight deck for aircraft accidents or suspected accident investigations. The CVR records and stores audio signals from the microphones and earphones of the pilots' headsets in the cockpit.
