Yellow-colored milestone:
If you see a yellow-colored milestone during the journey, then understand that you are on the National Highway. National Highways connect one state to another. It is owned by the National Highways Authority of India.
Green Milestone:
If you see a green milestone on the side of the road, then understand that you are walking on a state highway. Its maintenance is the responsibility of the state government.
Orange-colored milestone:
If you see an orange-colored milestone on the road, then understand that you are walking on a village road. The orange stripes on the milestone are linked to the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
Black, Blue, or White-colored milestones:
If you see black, blue, or white stripes on any milestone, then understand that you are in a big city or district. Municipal Corporation is responsible for these roads.
